Tamara Powell is a Communication doctoral student at the University of California, San Diego. Her research is in health education, play-based learning, practitioner/patient interaction, health disparities, and community-university partnerships for health. She combines approaches from health communication, anthropology, sociology, cultural-historical psychology, public health, and education studies to examine how universities can train physicians to be more effective educators and community advocates. Tamara lives in Sacramento, California with her husband, Aaron, who is a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician. They enjoy running, biking, yoga, volleyball, reading, and drinking tea together. |
